## Performing a Root Cause Analysis
- Root Cause Analysis _(PMing)_
- Clear the Obvious first - is the analytics tool working fine, at the first place.
- Co relation between a cause and effect.
- Design Changes -> (directly impacts) -> Product Discovery (increases)
- Attributable Data
- Do diagnose the issue while performing a root cause analysis, a person should first look at the external factors. (eg. Campaigns, competition announcements, or the company's own announcements) lead to a shift in trend for customers.
- Then focus on the demo-graph and the segment of customers that have been affected, if at all there is an identifiable pattern to that -> (can be attributed directly) -> purchasing power ; the trends ; factors that might be contributing to the way they come on Flipkart.
- Then, check for the residence of the problem on out ecosystem, if it is on the website, or the mobile application, or the web app
- Like, if found out on the mobile application and further probing concludes that android users are affected. -> With this, by this point, we'd surely know that it is an internal internal problem and not based upon the external factors.
- Now that we know its internal -> look at the FUNNEL and the CONVERSION from each step in the funnel.
- Installs -> SignUps -> Product Discovery -> Visibility of the buttons on product listing page -> clickability of the particular buttons -> How many clicks have actually resulted in the action.
- External Side Issue -> Customer sided
- Internal Side Issue -> Bug issue
- Make a point: GIVE A OVERVIEW of the FRAMEWORK you are gonna use, before jumping into asking questions or generally going about it.
- How FAST are you at SOLVING certain things | What is your SYSTEM (Framework) of approaching the PROBLEM | What QUALITY of SOLUTION do you offer.
- Collaborate with People who have knowledge
- Practice - Practice - Practice
- Know where you are lacking, and identify where you need to go
- Time Management - crucial skill
- Product Sense -> Product Development
- Root Cause Analysis -> Product Dignosis (advantage since I have a Product Designing experience.
