## Why am I polishing my discernment skills? Okay, so I am preparing myself for the coming years wherein when I will be a senior, I want to bring in depth in a particular domain for the organisation I work with or something of my own, and for the depth to resonate, I have to make sure I surround myself and consume the information which constitutes to building depth (the "T" shape of knowledge) in my understanding and my core expertise. Thus, having a developed sense of discernment becomes really essential as I will have to judge and decide whether a piece of information, curriculum or technology is worth investing the time or not, and also be confident while selecting the resources which strengthens the depth. So when lets say if even in my domain, anything new comes up, and then if I have to decide should I invest my time into it or not, I'd be willing to do so if that new technology is at least 4x (because 4 times would not be called an incremental upgrade, it'll be a significant jump ) better than what I currently know and work with. And in order to gauge it rightly, I need to have good discernment and ample wealth of knowledge in terms of depth in the particular domain I belong to and work in. Secondly, in an information loaded world, for multiple constituting reasons, its important to decide what to consume as it'll help not only prevent "information fatigue", but also nurture the confidence that reflects. ## The why? It is because, YOU CANNOT LEARN EVERYTHING! Time is limited Energy is limited Responsibilities compound
